The Flickner Innovation Farm near Moundridge will showcase the latest in irrigation technology with a demonstration of the 360 RAIN irrigation system on August 1. This cutting-edge system is designed for irregularly shaped farm fields where traditional center pivot systems are not practical. The 360 RAIN system requires lower water volumes and is part of a partnership with Kansas State University, funded by a grant from the Kansas Water Office.
Owner Ray Flickner expressed excitement about the potential of the new technology, highlighting its importance as wells in the region are running at diminished capacities. The demonstration event will feature not only the 360 RAIN system, but also other innovative technologies like remote sensing and management systems, soil moisture sensors, and more. Representatives from industry leaders will be present to answer questions and provide information on their products.
The Flickner Innovation Farm serves as a testing ground for various research projects, including studies on nutrients delivered by subsurface drip irrigation, soil health practices, weeds, and more. The collaboration between Flickner, university researchers, and industry leaders aims to identify efficient technologies and techniques for Kansas producers. The event is free and will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., offering attendees the opportunity to learn about the latest advancements in agricultural technology.
