Suspect captured following Texas high school shooting that left 4 injured

Four students, aged 15 to 18, were injured in a shooting at Wilmer-Hutchins High School in Dallas, with three of them suffering from gunshot wounds. The injuries ranged from serious to non-life-threatening. The gunman, who had been identified, was initially at large but was later arrested and is now in custody.

Students were seen evacuating the building after the shooting, which occurred around 1 p.m. Authorities have not disclosed how the gun entered the building or what led up to the shooting. This incident comes a year after a student was injured in another shooting at the same school.

Dallas Independent School District Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde expressed concern over the frequency of such incidents, saying it should not be something familiar. Classes at the school have been canceled for the rest of the week, and counselors will be available for students and staff affected by the shooting.

District officials confirmed that the gun did not enter the building during the primary intake period when students pass through metal detectors. The investigation is still ongoing, and the motive for the shooting has not been disclosed. The district reiterated the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of all students and staff in the wake of this tragic event.
