Central Michigan University’s softball team faced a tough opening game against Toledo, falling 3-7 in windy and cold conditions with on and off rain. However, Team 47 bounced back in the second game with a dominant 10-3 victory.
The win brings CMU’s season record to 20-19, with a 12-5 record in MAC play, while Toledo falls to 13-24 and 6-10 in league play. The team’s next challenge will be a weekend series against Bowling Green, starting on Friday at 3 p.m.
In the first game, Central Michigan’s London Williams hit a solo home run in the first inning, but Toledo responded with runs in the following innings. The pitching staff struggled, allowing Toledo to score seven runs over the game. In relief, Cierra Laska, Madison Wendel, and Madelyn Wallace all took the mound.
The second game saw a stellar performance from pitcher Brooklyn Compau, who threw a complete game victory with four strikeouts. CMU’s offense came alive, scoring seven runs in the sixth inning to secure the win. Allyssa Hollo shined in the second game, recording four hits and a walk.
