Michigan Tech University is gearing up for an action-packed sports weekend with a variety of events scheduled from February 6th to February 8th. The men’s and women’s basketball teams will be facing off against Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State, while the hockey team will take on Bemidji State for the Winter Carnival.
The Huskies hockey team will host Bemidji State in a total-goal series for the MacInnes Trophy on Friday and Saturday at the MacInnes Student Ice Arena. The team is currently 15-9-2 overall and 11-5-2 in the CCHA. The Blue Line Club will also be hosting a luncheon on Friday before the game.
Meanwhile, the men’s basketball team is coming off a successful home weekend, defeating Davenport and Grand Valley State. They will now travel to Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State with an overall record of 15-5.
The women’s basketball team split their weekend games, beating Davenport but falling to Grand Valley State. They will also be on the road, playing at Wayne State and Saginaw Valley State with a 9-11 overall record.
In other news, the Nordic skiing team won the overall team title at the St. Scholastica CCSA Invitational in Duluth over the weekend. They will now prepare to host the CCSA Championships & GLD CXC Cup Finale on February 15-16.
