Eastern Michigan University swimming & diving student-athlete Tristen Mina achieved the program’s sixth-fastest 100 yard butterfly time with a personal best of 54.94 seconds, earning a national championships B cut. Despite this standout performance, the Eagles ultimately fell to Ohio University with a score of 272.5-79.5 at the OU Aquatic Center. The team recorded one first-place finish, seven second-place outcomes, and eight third-place showings, along with six personal bests and 18 season bests.
Azra Umut led the Eagles with three top-three finishes, including a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle. The team showed strong performances in various events, with swimmers like Emma Littrell, Marlee Christie, and Kiersten Russell placing well in different races. Additionally, the 200-yard medley relay team and the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relay teams achieved top placements.
In diving, Megan Lupa and Rebekah Knapp performed impressively, both earning NCAA Zone Diving Championships cuts. Lupa secured two cuts this season with strong showings in the 3m and platform dives. The team showcased strong performances overall, with many athletes achieving personal bests and season bests.
The Eagles will head home to the Jones Natatorium for the Senior Extravaganza on February 8th, where they will celebrate their seniors in a mix of traditional events and themed challenges.
