Gymnastics Competition Taking Place at NIU on Sunday

The Eastern Michigan University gymnastics team is set to take on Northern Illinois in a meet on Saturday, February 2nd. After suffering their first loss of the season against Kent State, the Eagles are looking to bounce back and secure another win. Raisa Boris, who was named MAC Gymnast and Scholar-Athlete of the Week earlier in the season, will be a key player to watch as she has been performing consistently well in all events.

Despite being picked to finish fifth in the MAC preseason poll, the Eagles have started the season 4-0 for the first time in several years. The team has been setting top-10 program scores, including a recent team score of 196.450 which ranked third-best in EMU history. Additionally, junior Priya Karle has been making significant contributions to the team, posting a career-high score on the floor at a recent competition.

Eastern Michigan will be facing Northern Illinois, who currently ranks sixth in the MAC and 55th nationally. The Huskies have excelled in the vault event, ranking fourth in the MAC. The Eagles will be looking to continue their winning streak and improve their standing in the MAC as they head towards the MAC Championships in March. With a new assistant coach and several new freshmen on the team, Eastern Michigan is poised for a successful season and a potential run at the NCAA Regionals and Championships.
