The Eastern Michigan University women’s basketball team is gearing up for a home game against the University of Toledo on February 1st at the George Gervin GameAbove Center in Ypsilanti. The Eagles, with a record of 1-18, will face off against the Rockets with a record of 14-5. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with alumni weekend and a celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day presented by the Ann Arbor Sports Commission taking place. The Eagles will also be participating in the Play4Kay Game wearing pink uniforms to raise awareness for female cancer.
In terms of player performance, Sisi Eleko has been on fire, scoring 24 points at Kent State and reaching over 20 points for the seventh time this season. Olivia Smith also had a strong showing at Kent State with 16 points. Olivia Westphal has been consistent, recording three-pointers in four consecutive games and scoring 51 points in the last four games.
The Eagles have made at least one three-pointer in 122 consecutive games and are ranked third in the MAC for average three-pointers made per game. Olivia Westphal’s performance has been remarkable, scoring 48 three-pointers this season compared to 23 last season. Mackenzie Amalia leads the NCAA in minutes played per game with 38.4.
