The Michigan Tech men’s basketball team secured a 77-69 victory over Davenport, maintaining their undefeated record at home. Despite a physical game with 51 fouls, the Huskies managed to score 30 points from the free-throw line, securing their eighth home win of the season. Head coach Josh Buettner expressed satisfaction with the win, acknowledging the tough competition within the GLIAC.
Leading by five points at halftime, the Huskies surged ahead in the second half with a 12-2 run, extending their lead to 19 points. Although Davenport made a late push, the Huskies held on for the win, with Marcus Tomashek contributing 32 points and seven rebounds.
Tomashek, who has reached the 30-point mark eight times this season, credited his teammates for their support. In addition, Adam Hobson scored a dozen points and was recognized for achieving his 1,000th career point earlier in the month. Dawson Nordgaard also made a significant contribution with 11 points.
Tech’s strong performance included back-to-back threes in the first half, building a nine-point lead over Davenport. Joey Cabana led the Panthers with 23 points while Raishaun Brown added 10.
Looking ahead, Tech will face Grand Valley State at home on Saturday at 2 p.m. to conclude the weekend’s games. The team’s win over Davenport showcases their resilience and determination in the challenging GLIAC competition.
