The Eastern Michigan University cross country teams have been awarded the United States Track and Field/Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic honors for the fall 2024 semester. This achievement comes in a semester where the EMU Athletic Department saw its highest cumulative GPA in history, with 72% of student athletes and 94% of teams achieving above a 3.0 GPA. The women’s team had a cumulative GPA of 3.554, while the men’s team had a 3.454 GPA, placing them second overall among EMU men’s athletic teams. In total, 18 women and 14 men on the teams earned GPA above 3.0, with some achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Additionally, 13 individual student-athletes from the team were recognized with Academic All-MAC honors. Notable honorees from the women’s team include Sophie Emin, Ella Garvin, and Anita Zaro, while the men’s team included Ronan Codyre, Ty Dailey, and Carson McCoy. This marks the largest number of Academic All-MAC honorees for the program since 2018.
Moving forward, EMU cross country athletes will be participating in upcoming events such as the Jet’s Pizza Invitational at Saginaw Valley State and the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame.
