Michigan’s struggles at quarterback position in 2024 have been well-documented, but the Wolverines are also in need of better production from their wide receivers. The position group has not been a priority in Ann Arbor for much of the past decade, but changes may be on the horizon with the hiring of new offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey.
One potential improvement could come in the form of five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. from Mater Dei High School in California. Although Henry Jr. is currently committed to Ohio State, he has shown interest in other schools like Oregon, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. Speculation has arisen that Michigan could be more heavily involved in his recruitment, potentially offering a significant NIL package to secure his commitment.
Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore recently visited Mater Dei, where he also checked in on other targets for the Wolverines such as high four-star tight end Mark Bowman and four-star edge rusher Shaun Scott. The Wolverines have also extended an offer to 2027 defensive lineman Montana Toilolo.
With only two prospects committed to the 2026 class so far, the Wolverines are facing flip attempts from other schools for defensive back Brody Jennings. Despite these challenges, Michigan appears to be making efforts to strengthen its wide receiver position and overall recruiting efforts under Moore’s leadership.
