Reese Witherspoon mistaken for a real lawyer during jury duty following ‘Legally Blonde’ role

Reese Witherspoon shared a story on “The Graham Norton Show” about being mistaken for a real lawyer while serving on a jury due to her role as Elle Woods in “Legally Blonde.” Despite not wanting to do jury duty, Witherspoon was selected for a two-week trial in Beverly Hills. During deliberation, she was chosen as the foreman because her fellow jurors believed she had attended law school based on her portrayal in the movie. Witherspoon clarified that she had not gone to law school and only played a lawyer in a film. The experience made her realize that people may not know much about the law.

Witherspoon played Elle Woods, a sorority girl turned law student, in the “Legally Blonde” films and talks of a third installment have been circulating for years. Luke Wilson, who portrayed Elle’s love interest, mentioned that Witherspoon has been working on something for a third film. In May 2024, Witherspoon confirmed the development of a “Legally Blonde” prequel series for Amazon Prime Video in which fans will get to see Elle as a high school girl before she became a Harvard Law graduate. The show is expected to be released later in the year. Witherspoon’s role as Elle Woods has made her a well-known figure in both film and pop culture, and fans are eagerly anticipating the return of the beloved character.
