A teenage house party in Florida hosted by a Cocoa Beach High School student at the home of Roosevelt Elementary School Principal Elizabeth Hill-Brodigan and teacher Karly Anderson has led to child abuse charges. The party had over 100 attendees, including underage drinkers and juveniles. Hill-Brodigan and Anderson failed to properly care for the juveniles, resulting in charges of child neglect and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Both were booked into jail and released on bond, pleading not guilty with jury trials requested.
Brevard Public Schools has placed them on administrative leave, expressing concern over the accusations. The party featured various inappropriate behaviors including a teenager pointing a gun at another student, a vomiting partygoer, marijuana use, fights, and violence. A teenage girl was arrested for driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level above the legal limit. The party was promoted on Snapchat with attendees wearing matching “white lie” T-shirts.
Police found that such events occurred regularly at Hill-Brodigan’s home, with preparations made by students prior to the parties. Anderson stated that she does not participate in such events, and another affidavit mentioned that her children were not present during the party. The high school is located near their homes on an upscale street, but it remains unclear why the educators were involved in hosting teenage parties. The party ended with a false report to police, allowing attendees to flee without consequences.
