Michigan Volleyball Falls to Indiana in Hard-Fought Battle
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The University of Michigan volleyball team faced defeat on the road, losing 3-1 to Indiana at Wilkinson Hall on Wednesday night. The Wolverines (17-13, 7-12 Big Ten) showcased resilience by claiming the second set 27-25, but ultimately fell short in the final matches.
Jacque Boney stood out for Michigan, recording a career-high 17 kills with an impressive .441 hitting percentage and contributing six blocks. Serena Nyambio also made her mark, leading the team with seven blocks, while Morgan Burke orchestrated the play with 38 assists and added five blocks. Maddi Cuchran anchored the defense with 15 digs.
The match saw a competitive start, with Indiana (14-15, 7-12 Big Ten) gaining an early edge. After Michigan rallied to claim a brief lead in the first set, Indiana’s consistent play allowed them to secure a 25-22 victory. In the second set, the teams exchanged leads, but Michigan’s persistence paid off as they edged out Indiana in a tight finish.
Unfortunately, the momentum shifted in the third set, with Indiana dominating after an early exchange, winning 25-18. The fourth set was a back-and-forth affair, with both teams exchanging leads. Nevertheless, Indiana managed to close out the match with a decisive 25-21 win.
With the defeat, Michigan prepares to conclude the regular season at home against Northwestern on Friday, November 29, at 7 p.m., which will also serve as Senior Night. The match will be streamed live on B1G+.
