Michigan Attorney Michael Hodge Found Deceased After Extensive Search
BARRY COUNTY, Mich. – The search for prominent Michigan attorney Michael Hodge, 76, of Delton, came to a tragic conclusion on Thursday when his body was discovered during a thorough K9-led search. Michigan State Police (MSP) expressed their profound condolences to Hodge’s family and friends, labeling the outcome as “truly unfortunate” and extending gratitude to the hundreds of volunteers and law enforcement partners who contributed to the extensive search efforts.
Hodge’s daughter, Meghan Hodge Groen, took to Facebook to thank the community for their support during the search. “We are truly grateful for the friends, volunteers, media outlets, and police officers who worked together to help locate my father,” she wrote. Groen emphasized her father’s warmth, humor, and intelligence, urging people to remember the positive impact he had on many lives as a dedicated professional, friend, father, and grandfather. "Our hearts are broken. THANK YOU all for your support, love and prayers.”
Hodge had been missing since Friday, November 8, prompting MSP to request public assistance on November 10. His daughter previously noted that while her father had been dealing with some dementia and often enjoyed long walks, he had never been gone for an extended period.
During his notable career at the law firm Miller Canfield, Hodge specialized in governmental, labor, and commercial litigation, including election law matters. He also served as a legal advisor to former Governor James Blanchard from 1987 to 1990, further solidifying his reputation in the legal community. The exact location and circumstances surrounding Hodge’s death have not been disclosed by state police.
