BELVIDERE TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A tragic head-on collision occurred early Friday morning on M-46, resulting in one death and leaving another person injured. The accident took place around 5:19 AM near Hillman Road in Montcalm County, as reported by the Michigan State Police (MSP).
Preliminary investigations reveal that a 44-year-old man from Morley was driving a Dodge Ram pickup truck westbound when he struck a deer that had entered the roadway. The impact caused the truck to swerve into oncoming traffic, leading to a head-on collision with a sedan. The driver of the sedan, also a 44-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the details surrounding the crash is ongoing. MSP Lakeview Post troopers are leading the inquiry, aiming to piece together the events that led to this unfortunate incident.
