A 74-year-old man in Sterling Heights, Michigan was arrested after allegedly stabbing his wife and grandson. The man, who suffers from dementia, was awoken by his wife and attacked her with a knife, causing superficial wounds to her face and neck. The grandson, in his mid-20s, intervened and was stabbed in the stomach. Police found the man in the basement attempting to stab himself and Tasered him to stop the attack. The man, his wife, and grandson were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Sterling Heights police commended their officers for their handling of the situation, preventing a deadly force encounter and providing medical care to the injured. An investigation is ongoing, with the case being submitted to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office for further review.
