Over 2.2 million Michigan residents have already voted | Politics

With election day approaching, Michigan voters have shown strong participation with over 30 percent of voters already casting their ballot. This early turnout is attributed to the combination of absentee voting and the mandatory 9 days of early voting introduced with Proposal 2 in 2022. Grand Blanc Township Clerk David Robertson noted that the early voting was intended to accommodate high-turnout elections like the current presidential race. As of Wednesday, 27.8 percent of registered voters in Mid-Michigan have already voted, including 50 thousand ballots cast during the early voting period. In Grand Blanc Township, over 35 percent of registered voters have turned out early, with more than 2,000 votes cast during early voting in the township. Robertson highlighted that citizens appreciate the extended voting period and the option to vote via absentee ballots. Early voting will continue statewide through Sunday, offering an alternative to voting on Election Day. For more information on voting locations, voters can visit Michigan.gov/Vote. The high voter turnout in Michigan reflects the interest and engagement of residents in this crucial election.
