The Democratic National Committee is leveraging Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to encourage young people to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. Swift endorsed Harris in September and is set to perform at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. The DNC has launched a Taylor Swift-themed “I Will Vote” campaign with Snapchat filters and advertisements directing fans to IWillVote.com for voting information. The campaign aims to engage Gen Z voters, as Trump and Harris are deadlocked in national polls. The initiative includes billboards in Miami, mobile billboards near the stadium, and interactive Snapchat filters using Swiftian lingo to inspire fans to vote on Nov. 5. Swift’s endorsement has historically led to an increase in voter registrations among young people, with her support for Harris resulting in over 337,000 visits to vote.org in one day. Prior to endorsing Harris, many fans had formed the group Swifties for Kamala to raise money for the candidate. The DNC hopes that meeting young voters where they are, from concert venues to social media platforms, will help ensure they understand the importance of the election and the contrast between Harris’ agenda and Trump’s.
