A judge ruled that President Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness program can proceed as the temporary restraining order on the plan has expired. This is a small victory for the Biden administration just weeks before the presidential election. The lawsuit was brought by seven red-leaning states, but the judge found that Georgia lacked standing to challenge the plan. The judge agreed with the federal government’s argument that the venue was improper and decided to transfer the case to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. Last month, the judge had extended the temporary restraining order on the plan for an additional 14 days. This ruling allows the Biden administration to move forward with their student loan forgiveness program.
