Israel Claims to Have Killed Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah in Significant Escalation of Middle East Conflict, Live Updates

The Israeli army has announced the killing of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in a series of strikes on Beirut. Nasrallah, who had led the Iran-backed militant group for 32 years, was targeted on Friday. The IDF stated that Nasrallah “will no longer be able to terrorize the world”. This marks a significant escalation as Israel had previously avoided assassinating senior Hezbollah leaders. The IDF also claimed to have killed other Hezbollah commanders in the airstrikes.

Following this announcement, Israel is on high alert for potential retaliation from Hezbollah. British nationals in Lebanon have been urged to leave the country immediately as tensions escalate. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has reportedly been moved to a secure location with heightened security measures in place.

Thousands of residents in Beirut have fled to escape Israeli attacks, with many sleeping in parks or on streets. Israel has carried out extensive strikes on Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa Valley in eastern Lebanon.

In response to the killing of Nasrallah, protests have erupted in Tehran, condemning Israel’s actions. Hezbollah has not yet issued a response to Nasrallah’s death. The situation remains tense as both sides prepare for potential further escalation in the conflict.
