Alabama sees at least four fatalities and 18 injuries

A manhunt is ongoing for multiple shooters who killed four people and injured 17 in Birmingham, Alabama. The shooting occurred outside a lounge in the city’s nightlife district. Police believe the shooters were targeting one person due to a potential hit job. A fully automatic weapon was used in the shooting.

The victims were identified by Birmingham police as Alabama residents, including Anitra Holloman, Tahj Booker, and Carlos McCain. One victim has not been identified. Those injured in the shooting were taken to the University of Alabama’s UAB Hospital for treatment. The incident is the second mass shooting in Birmingham this year.

In response to the shooting, Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin called for change and highlighted the impact of the federal assault weapons ban on gun violence in the city. Woodfin urged local, state, and national elected officials to address the issue of gun violence in the United States.

Police are calling for anyone with information about the shooting to come forward. They are working with federal agencies like the FBI and ATF to investigate the incident. Businesses with security cameras in the area have been asked to review footage and provide any relevant information to investigators.
