Multiple people shot in Kentucky in active shooter incident, police report


Kentucky police have reported an “active shooter situation” near Interstate 75 in London, where multiple people were shot in traffic on Saturday evening. The incident began just before 6pm local time outside London, with reports of vehicles being fired at on the interstate in Laurel County. The shots were coming from a wooded area or an overpass. The suspect has not been caught, and officials are urging people to stay inside.

London mayor Randall Weddle warned residents to avoid I-75 around Exit 49 and to use alternative routes. Kentucky governor Andy Beshear has asked residents to avoid the area and to pray for those involved. The small city of London, with a population of about 8,000 residents, is located about 100 miles northwest of the state capital, Frankfort.
