The state’s two largest electricity providers, DTE Energy and Consumers Energy, are still working to restore power to over 116,000 customers after a fast-moving storm system caused widespread outages. DTE Energy expects to have 90% of the 330,000 outages from Tuesday evening restored by Thursday, while Consumers Energy still has 41,076 outages, mainly in western Michigan. The utility has 500 crews working to restore power.
Consumers Energy has been distributing free ice and water to affected areas and is working to restore power to remaining customers. The company has received assistance from lineworkers from Michigan and other states and is working tirelessly to complete the restoration efforts.
One of the hardest-hit areas was in Rochester Hills, where power poles were knocked over or snapped, leading to a busy work zone with numerous crews working on repairs. Consumers Energy is grateful for the dedication of the lineworkers and the understanding of customers during this challenging time.
Efforts are ongoing to restore power in affected areas, and the companies are working to provide updates to customers as the restoration efforts continue. Customers are encouraged to stay informed and patient as the power restoration process progresses.
