The Israeli military conducted a major operation in the occupied West Bank, resulting in the deaths of multiple militants, including a well-known local commander. The operation raised international concern as Israel is also engaged in conflicts with Gaza and Iran. Israeli authorities reported the deaths of 5 militants, while Palestinian health officials and Hamas claimed higher casualties. Concerns were raised after Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz suggested implementing Gaza-like measures in the West Bank, prompting warnings from the European Union about further instability in the region. The Israeli military identified one of the slain militants as Muhhamad Jabber, known as “Abu Shujaa,” who was reportedly the head of a terrorist network in Nur Shams. This operation in Tulkarem, along with earlier raids in Jenin and Al-Faraa, appeared to be the largest Israeli operation in the West Bank in more than 20 years. The international community is on alert as tensions in the region rise, with Iran threatening retaliation following the assassinations of senior Hamas and Hezbollah leaders. Israeli authorities stated that the militants killed were involved in carrying out terror attacks, including one that resulted in the death of an Israeli man in June.
