Michigan Democrats respond to JD Vance’s visit in West Michigan

Michigan Democrats held a press conference in response to vice presidential hopeful JD Vance’s visit to West Michigan. U.S. Rep. Hilary Scholten and State Rep. Carol Glanville criticized Vance for spreading lies about their plans for Michigan families and warned about the potential impact of Project 2025, a ticket run by former President Donald Trump and Vance. Union worker Mary Sluiter joined them in highlighting the negative aspects of Project 2025, such as eliminating public sector unions and raising costs for middle-class families.

On the other hand, Scholten emphasized the plans of Vice President Kamala Harris and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz to lower healthcare costs, address unfair rent prices, and hold corporations accountable for price gouging. Glanville and Sluiter praised Harris and Walz for their background in fighting for workers’ rights and understanding the struggles of middle-class families.

In contrast, JD Vance praised former President Trump’s economic record in Big Rapids and criticized the Biden-Harris administration for the border crisis. The Michigan Democrats reiterated their support for Harris and Walz, citing their commitment to workers’ rights and the middle class. The contrasting visions presented by both parties highlight the importance of the upcoming election for the future of Michigan families and workers.
