Campers completely wrecked in Westmoreland County

A fire broke out at Camping World on Route 356 in Allegheny Township, Westmoreland County, early Wednesday morning, causing more than a dozen campers to catch fire. The incident was reported around 4:40 a.m., with witnesses reporting hearing roughly a dozen explosions. Allegheny Township Police Chief Dan Uncapher stated that initial estimates indicated 15 campers were involved, but the number was later revised to 18. The explosions were attributed to the propane tanks on the vehicles.

Rachel Ramsey, who witnessed the fire from her home, expressed concern about the fire spreading. Ten fire departments responded to the scene promptly, preventing the fire from spreading to the surrounding businesses. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and no one was taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and an investigation is underway by the state police fire marshal. Authorities will review surveillance footage from the store to determine the cause of the fire. Uncapher commended the quick response of emergency crews, stating that prompt reporting likely prevented further damage and saved property. The incident has sparked concerns among residents in the area, as the sound of explosions and sight of a large blaze were alarming. The community is grateful for the timely and effective response of emergency responders in containing the fire.
