Protesters in various cities across the Middle East, from Pakistan to Lebanon, are denouncing the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh. Following his assassination in Iran, hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators marched through Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, carrying Hamas flags and chanting slogans in support of the militant group’s military wing. Similar protests took place in Tehran, Iran, where hard-line government supporters condemned the killing and called for the death of Israel and America.
In Lebanon, residents of the Palestinian refugee camp al-Bass in Tyre took to the streets to show their support for Hamas, carrying images of Haniyeh and the group’s spiritual leader Ahmed Yassin. Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the Palestinian people’s will cannot be broken by Israeli aggression.
In Pakistan, two separate protests were organized in Karachi, one by the religious political party Jamaat e Islami and another by the Palestine Foundation Pakistan. Protesters carried posters of Haniyeh and chanted slogans in support of the Palestinians’ struggle against Israeli occupation.
These protests come as international efforts are underway to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The killing of Haniyeh has sparked outrage among supporters of the militant group, with many expressing solidarity with the Palestinian cause and calling for an end to Israeli aggression.
