Hamas’ political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in an Israeli strike on his home in Tehran. Haniyeh had recently attended the inauguration ceremony for Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. The hunt for Hamas’ leadership has been ongoing for months, with three of Haniyeh’s sons killed in an airstrike in April. Israeli officials did not comment on the reports of Haniyeh’s death. The strike on Haniyeh came after the Israeli military killed a Hezbollah leader in a strike on Beirut. Hamas had previously vowed not to cave under Israeli pressure and is now waging an open war to liberate Jerusalem. This is a developing story with updates expected.
