With Vance by his side, Trump hopes to gain support among Rust Belt voters in states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Ohio. Vance, who emphasized his working-class roots during his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention, aims to connect with voters whose jobs were sent overseas and children were sent to war.

Biden, currently isolating after being diagnosed with COVID-19, has insisted he is not dropping out and has criticized Trump’s acceptance speech for presenting a “dark vision for the future.”

Hillary Scholten, a Democrat representing Grand Rapids, is among the lawmakers calling on Biden to step aside after a poor debate performance.
