A 46-year-old man from Branch County, Michigan, will stand trial on multiple charges after being accused of sexually assaulting two minors, giving them methamphetamine, and fleeing the country. Anthony Cuyler was charged with three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, one count of delivering methamphetamine to a minor, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of ammunition by a felon. The charges stem from incidents in 2019 where Cuyler allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl and provided them with methamphetamine.
After being charged, Cuyler fled the country and was eventually found in Mexico. He was extradited back to Michigan by U.S. Marshals in June. Cuyler’s next court date is scheduled for August 12.
The case has shocked the community in Branch County, with residents expressing outrage over the allegations. Law enforcement officials have emphasized the seriousness of the charges and the need for justice for the victims. The trial is expected to be closely followed by local media and residents interested in the outcome.
The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office is actively pursuing the case and working to ensure that Cuyler faces full accountability for his actions. The charges against Cuyler highlight the importance of protecting minors from exploitation and abuse, and the case serves as a reminder of the ongoing challenges in combating such crimes.
