Vice President Kamala Harris visited West Michigan to discuss reproductive rights amid political tensions in the area. During her visit, Harris emphasized the importance of individuals having control over their own bodies and the potential consequences of government interference in this area.
The Vice President also addressed the recent attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania, calling it a “heinous, horrible, and cowardly act.” She expressed gratitude that Trump was not seriously injured and offered prayers for his well-being and that of his family.
Harris’ visit coincided with a new Associated Press poll showing that nearly two-thirds of Democrats want President Joe Biden to drop out of the race due to concerns about his age. However, supporters at the rally voiced their unwavering support for Biden and Harris, citing the president’s accomplishments and potential for leading the country to a better future.
Not all attendees at the rally had made a decision on who to vote for, with some, like 18-year-old Liam Reynolds, remaining undecided. Reynolds mentioned his leaning towards voting for President Biden and Vice President Harris but expressed a willingness to listen to both perspectives before making a final decision.
Vice President Harris is set to continue her campaign tour with a visit to Fayetteville, North Carolina on Thursday. Meanwhile, former President Trump and his running-mate, Sen. JD Vance, will be visiting Grand Rapids on Saturday, continuing to rally support in the area.
